Eid-e-Milaad-un-Nabi Must-haves

Each festival has its own food specialties

With the last but big Eid of the year coming up, Muslim households are drawing up a list of tantalizing delicacies to prepare.

Albeit the pandemic may restrict the scale of this celebration but pray who can stall preparation of yummy cuisine in a country of foodies!

Eid-e-Milaad-un-Nabi traditionally starts with a barbecue and then proceeds to fried liver, kebabs, haleem, korma, pulao and biryani.

Here’s sharing some must-haves for Eid -

Sheer Korma:

A bowl of Sheer Korma on Eid is an absolute must. Prepared from vermicelli, milk, delicious dry fruits and some flavours this desert is a perfect end for the occasion. A traditional Farsi recipe passed across generations through word-of-mouth, ‘Sheer’ stands for milk and ‘korma’ stands for dates.

Sevaiyan:

Another treat for those with a sweet tooth; the rich-in-taste sevaiyan is prepared from milk and vermicelli, and doesn’t require much time and effort to make. Its creamy taste and fluid smoothness quickly sets the mood of the festival and no meal is considered complete without this yummy treat.

Biryani:

Celebrating Eid without Biryani is akin to celebrating Diwali without lights. A main course dish and regarded as one of the richest dishes – this culinary delight is an aromatic blend of rice and mutton or chicken. A global favourite with amazing flavours, this traditional dish has its own unique style of cooking.

Nalli Nihari:

Another of the simply royal dishes you must try this Eid, this one’s a slow cooked mutton curry … a painstakingly prepared item. The dish originates from Arabia where ‘Nahar’ means ‘day’. This recipe is made with different flavours, spices and mixed well with onion gravy. What makes this dish special is that it is perfectly cooked and blended with just the right amount of flavours and spices.

Mutton Kebab:

This is perhaps the most popular and traditional savoury ravished with pleasure by all! It is basically pieces of mutton fried to the perfect crispness level. Mutton can be replaced with the liver of chicken or lamb without compromising on the taste! This one’s a starter and also an accompaniment to beverages and hence can be eaten anytime.

Seekh Kebab:

Another famous starter these bring in the perfect spice during Eid. It is a minced chicken preparation blended with aromatic spices melded into skewers and cooked to perfection.

So go ahead and celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad with these lip-smacking delicacies!
