Chicken Xacuti

 

This for me, hands down, has got to be the CROWN JEWEL of Goan Cuisine! Chicken Xacuti is a delicious Goan style Chicken Curry made with freshly roasted spices and is eaten along with Ladhi Pav or Poli. It can also be served along with rice and solkadi, which makes a heavenly combination.

Chicken Xacuti is essentially packed with flavours with a unique combination consisting of Kashmiri red chilies, poppy seeds, coconut, onion and other spices. A wonderful blend of spices and coconut gives this curry the signature flavour that it carries! The texture too is beautiful with ground spices and coconut, and that's what makes this my favourite Chicken Curry!

My mother prepares the best Chicken Xacuti (that's my opinion) and is a must almost every month, especially on weekends! It makes a great meal, along with garam pav/unde/poli (Hot Pav) and of course, my favourite, Xitt (Rice) and Solkadi. Along with this, we always prepare an Onion-Tomato salad, with a sprinkle of lemon juice, salt, sugar, coriander leaves and chilli powder, which truly makes the meal a real FLAVOUR BOMB!
