  • 1 cup , Barnyard Millet/samak rice
  • 1 tbsp , Ghee
  • 1 tsp , Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp , Peanut
  • 1 no , Potato
  • 1 no , Green Chilli
  • 7-8 nos , Curry Leaves
  • as per taste , Rock salt
  • 2 cups , Water
  • 1 tbsp , Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp , Roasted peanuts for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash samak rice and keep aside.
  • In a pan add ghee, cumin seeds and raw peanuts. Roast on low flame for a minute.
  • Add diced potato, green chilli, curry leaves. Cook for a minute and then add salt as per taste.
  • Add the washed samak rice and roast for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 2 cups water, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Switch off flame after 10 minutes. Keep it covered and open after 5 minutes.
  • Samak rice/pulao is ready to serve.

Notes/Tips

Keep it covered for 5 minutes after you switch off the flame, else rice will be mushy.
