  • Barnyard Millet/samak rice 1 cup
  • Ghee 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Peanut 1 tbsp
  • Potato 1 no
  • Green Chilli 1 no
  • Curry Leaves 7-8 nos
  • Rock salt as per taste
  • Water 2 cups
  • Fresh coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  • Roasted peanuts for garnish 1 tsp

Instructions

  • Wash samak rice and keep aside.
  • In a pan add ghee, cumin seeds and raw peanuts. Roast on low flame for a minute.
  • Add diced potato, green chilli, curry leaves. Cook for a minute and then add salt as per taste.
  • Add the washed samak rice and roast for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 2 cups water, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Switch off flame after 10 minutes. Keep it covered and open after 5 minutes.
  • Samak rice/pulao is ready to serve.

Notes/Tips

Keep it covered for 5 minutes after you switch off the flame, else rice will be mushy.
