Crispy onion rings

  • 2 units , Large onions
  • 1 cup , All purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup , Corn starch
  • 1/2 teaspoons , Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons , Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoons , Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons , Black pepper
  • 2 cup , Bread crumbs
  • as per taste , Cooking oil


  • Take a large bowl, add all purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add water and whisk until it is smooth and thick.
  • Cut the onions into thick slices/ rings and separate them.
  • Dip the rings in the batter, then coat them with breadcrumbs.
  • Take a pan, heat the oil and deep fry the rings until they are golden brown in color and crisp.
  • Transfer them into an absorbent paper and serve hot with ketchup or green chutney.
