Ingredients

  • Bhetki Fillets 6 fillets of 200 grams each
  • Prawns/ Shrimps Medium Sized
  • Onion Paste- 1 tablespoon and 1 small sliced
  • Ginger, Garlic and Chillies Paste- 1 tablespoon each
  • Mustard and Poppy Seeds Paste- 1 and a half tablespoon each
  • Lemon Juice 1 and half teaspoon
  • Black Pepper, Zeera andTurmeric Powder Powder- 1 - 2 teaspoon each
  • Red and Green Chillies 5 pieces-Whole and Sliced
  • Salt As per taste
  • Grated Coconut 1 and half tablespoon for garnishing
  • Egg 1 for Batter
  • Mustard Oil 2 -3 teaspoon
  • White Oil 1 cup for deep frying
  • Cornflower 1 tablespoon chopped
  • Coriander Leaves 1 tablespoon chopped

Instructions

  • Bhetki fillets needs marination with 1 tablepoon of onion, garlic, ginger & chillies paste,1 teaspoon- black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon zeera (powder), 1tablespoon chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste & 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Keep aside for an hour.
  • Then prawns are cooked on steam by mixing it with Mustard & Posto Paste,1 tea spoon Turmeric Powder, Salt to taste, Sliced Onions, Red & Green Chillies-Slit, 2-3 teaspoon of mustard oil. Thereafter the cooked prawns with gravy are put in mixture(1 round).
  • Now take one marinated bhetki fillet in your hand, fold it in half and stuff it with the steamed prawn mixture, giving it a round shape in the form of a Chop, like in the picture.
  • In a separate bowl make a batter with 1 egg, pepper & zeera powder, half tablespoon cornflower. Dip the chops in the batter & coat it with breadcrumbs. Then deep fry till golden brown. Garnish with ringed onions, grated coconut, red & green chillies.

Notes/Tips

Prick the marinated bhetki fillets with a toothpick or fork, specially at the juncture of folding the fillet to make it soft, tender and cooked well. Caution needs to be taken while adding zeera powder. More than required if added, it shall spoil the taste.
