This Tomato bath is a delicious, tangy and spiced rice based dish from the Karnataka cuisine. The recipe is made with a ground paste of tomatoes, spices and herbs. Addition of this ground masala makes the rice really delicious and flavorful.

Ingredients

  • 4 Big Tomatoes
  • 2 Onion
  • 8-10 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • handful of Pudina
  • 3 Tbsp Coriander Chopped
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 Inch Cinnamon
  • 2 Elachi
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 2 Tsp Chilli Powder
  • 2 Cup Rice

Instructions

  • Heat 4 Tbsp Oil, add cloves, cinnamon and Elachi. Then add long Chopped Onion, fry till golden.
  • Make a paste out of tomatoes, garlic and ginger and add the same to the fried onion
  • Once tomatoes releases oil, add chilli powder and pudina. Fry well
  • Once masala is fried add 3 cups water and rice, add chopped coriander and garam masala powder before closing the lid
  • Close and cook until 2-3 whistle

Serve with salad or chutney of your choice
