- Boil,peel,grate and mash sweet potatoes.Soak rava with 2-3 tbsp milk for half hour.Mix this rava in mashed sweet potato. Add milk powder,malai, maida,1 tbsp ghee,crushed cardamom powder,pinch of salt and baking powder.Mash all to make a smooth dough.Smear ghee in palms and make round balls.There should not be any cracks in the balls.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry these balls in low to medium flame till golden brown.Make a sugar syrup of 1 string consistency. Add crushed cardamom powder or rose water or saffron to the boiling syrup.Dip gulab jamuns in this syrup for an hour till they double in size.
- Serve delicious soft sweet potato gulab jamuns warm as an aftermeal dessert.
