Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup urad dal
  • 1.5 cups fine semolina (rava)
  • 2 cups fresh Yogurt (Dahi)
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • as per taste Salt
  • as required Water
  • 2 cups Hot water
  • 1-2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon pink salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons tamarind water or chutney
  • as required Some blueberries (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and Soak urad dal in water for 3-4 hours. Grind into a fine paste. Add semolina, salt and 1/2 cup water. Mix thoroughly and keep aside for 10 minutes. Heat an Appam pan. Apply a few drops of oil. Drop a spoon of the batter in each Appam space. Flip and Cook for 2 minutes from each side.
  • Take them out in a bowl. Add hot water and let the Vadas dip in the hot water for 10 minutes. Take yogurt in a bowl. Add sugar and mix with a fork or whisk. Now squeeze each vadas with your fingers to remove excess water. Dip all the Vadas in yogurt mixture to cover nicely.
  • Now sprinkle the cumin powder, chilli powder and add some pudina chutney and tamarind water. Lastly garnish with blueberries or any fruit of your choice.
