Pav Bhaji is a fast food dish from Mumbai (Bombay), India, consisting of a vegetable curry (bhaji) cooked in tomato gravy and served with a soft bread roll (pav).

  • onions
  • mustard seeds (rahi) 
  • jeera
  • ginger garlic paste
  • Turmeric powder
  • red chilly powder
  • pav bhaji masala
  • tomatoes
  • potatoes
  • cauliflower
  • carrot
  • coriander leaves
  • water
  • Oil
  • salt

Instructions

  • In pressure cooker,add all vegetables (potatoes,cauliflower,capsicum,carrot),turmeric powder, water and salt and pressure cook it for 15-20minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a kadai, pour oil, add mustard seeds(rahi) , jeera, ginger-garlic paste, chopped onions. 
  • Then Add all masalas(Turmeric powder,red chilly powder, pav bhaji masala) into it. 
  • Pour tomato puree(grind the peeled and cut tomatoes into the grinder) and cook for few minutes and stir till the oil oozes out. 
  • Lastly, add pressure cooked and mashed vegetables from the cooker into the kadai (if required then gently add water to adjust the consistency). 
  • Serve it hot by garnishing it with onions(chopped), butter/ghee, Coriander leaves(chopped). 

Notes/Tips

1)Serve hot with pav.  2) We can use ghee instead of butter.
