Healthy Ragi and Oats Cookies

Ingredients

  • Ragi flour
  • Whole wheat flour
  • Oats
  • Jaggery
  • Unsalted butter
  • Baking powder
  • Fennel seeds powder
  • Cardomom powder

Instructions

  • Dry roast the Ragi flour on slow flame for approximately ten minutes. Allow it to cool
  • After it cools take all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix them thoroughly.
  • Now add the cold butter and rub in the flour to make a dough . Add milk one tablespoon at a time and bind it into a stiff dough.
  • Cling wrap the dough and rest it in the refrigerator for thirty minutes.
  • Meanwhile preheat the oven at 160°c .
  • Now after thirty minutes shape balls of around 20gms each from the refrigerated dough. Press them slightly with your palms and flatten them. You could also make impressions on the cookies with fork as shown in the pic
  • Now place them on a baking tray leaving space in between.
  • Bake them in a pre heated oven at 160°c for 18 to 20 minutes.
  • After baking allow them to cool them for five minutes on the tray before transferring to a wired rack.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before storing .

Notes/Tips

This recepie is made with ingredients that are highly nutritious. Ragi is a good source of calcium. Jaggery is used instead of sugar and whole wheat flour is used instead of maida . So anyone could eat it guilt free
