Battar Papdi is a famous Sindhi street food chaat predominantly available in Ulhasnagar, Thane, Maharashtra. This chaat is made with battars/battans,(which are porous savory bread buns) onion, potatoes, papdi, sev, mint chutney, tamarind chutney and hari mirch chutney. It is very easy to make and perfect to eat in this scorching summer.

Ingredients

  • 5 Battars
  • 2 tbsp Papdi
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 boiled, peeled and chopped potato
  • Mint chutney
  • Tamarind chutney
  • Hari mirch chutney
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • Sev for garnishing
  • Coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  • Cut the battars into halves and submerge them in mint chutney for 30-40 seconds to make them soft.
  • In a serving plate, assemble these soft battars.
  • Top it off with potatoes, onions and papdi.
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala over it.
  • Now pour all the three chutneys i.e. mint chutney, tamarind chutney and hari mirch chutney over it.
  • Garnish with sev and chopped coriander leaves.

Notes/Tips

Since the buns are porous, they tend to turn soggy soon, so it is recommended to eat it immediately to relish the taste.
