- Heat a pan. Melt butter. Saute the apple chunks with sugar. Stir till the apple juice leaves. Separate the apple chunks in a bowl.
- Stir until the juice evaporates. When brown add the apple once more. Add the cinnamon powder,lemon juice & orange zest. Turn off the flame.
- In a bowl take flour,salt,baking powder & chilled butter cubes. Mix & rub till the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Add chilled water to make a fine dough.
- Grease the pie pan or any steel flat low edge container with butter. Sprinkle some flour on rolling board. Roll out a small dough. Place it on the pie pan. Press from all sides. Prick the base & sides with a fork.
- Pour the apples into the pie base. Roll out a dough again & cut evenly into strips. Place each strip on top with a gap in between. Press from sides & cut the extra strips.
- Heat a pan for 10mins on high flame. Place a stand & put the pie pan. Cover & bake for 5mins. Brush melted butter on the pie & again bake for 40mins.
- When cool demould it. Serve with Vanilla Custard to enhance its taste.
