I hail from Thanjavur, a town in Tamil Nadu, which despite its small stature, is home to rich culture, finger-licking good food, and mesmerising scenarios. I graduated from IHM Bangalore, one of the finest institutions for food and catering, with flying colours. I had various job offers from distinguished hotels, but I soon realised that is not my cup of tea. Cooking is in my soul, it's my passion. Slaving away in a kitchen of a famous hotel, no matter how stable and financially beneficial, wouldn't gratify my soul. Utterly clueless as to what to do, I moved to Gurgaon, and the second leg of my journey started. I worked with a corporate company for around 3 years, performed well and even received various accolades. But on the inside I felt empty. I wasn’t following my heart’s desire. The turning point in my journey came during the lockdown period. Not only did I cook for myself, I learned various new dishes and the secrets of cooking authentic Tamil delicacies perfectly from my mother. She taught me about the rich blend of Tamil spices, and the nutrients they contain. From the combination of her experience and my culinary skills, we invented a dish that I have christened as “Thanjoriyani”. Thanjoriyani is a biryani with the essence of Thanjavuri spices and flavours. It is slowly cooked in the time period of 3 hours and is made with love and care. If you’re a biryani lover, Thanjoriyani is a must try for you. I finally followed my heart’s desire and created this blog, in the hopes that it will appease my passion for cooking, and will also make this special recipe of my own creation famous.
