ROASTED GARLIC Garlic is the powerhouse of flavour that brings the simplest foods to life . It is a staple ingredient that finds its way into our everyday dishes increasing the flavour profile of the dish & also provide numerous health benefits. Once roasted the cloves get soft, warm and caramelized hence tasting mild and sweet! This roasted deliciousness can be eaten on their own or used as a boost to flavor. The possibilities are pretty much endless and I’ve found that roasted garlic is an awesome way to add a huge amount of flavor without adding any additional calories to a dish. It’s great for health-conscious cooking! Roasting garlic concentrates the sugars and transforms it into a caramelized, spreadable, buttery texture, with sweet, deep complex flavours, removing all the sharpness, pungency and bite. This way it is easier to digest. It can be added to many recipes as it uplifts the flavour or Spread it warm, right out of the oven on a toasty bread for a quick appetizer or snack. Add it to your dips & it will enhance the existing flavour. When added to the Mushrooms & Potatoes they are Match Made In Heaven & gives a whole new dimension when added in whipped Butter & Cheese. MEDICINAL PROPERTIES:- Since ancient times, garlic has been used as a medicinal plant, and the substance that gives garlic its special power along with its characteristic odour is called ALLICIN. Raw garlic has antibacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. It also helps to boost the immune system. For these reasons it’s been used medicinally to help treat Cold & Flu for ages. Eating garlic raw is best if you’re looking to take advantage of all the great health benefits, but if you’re looking to enhance its flavour as well Roasted garlic is the Right Choice! HOW TO ROAST:- Preheat the oven to 200*C Cut 1/4 inch of the tips off so cloves are exposed & Place them in a well-oiled Baking Dish. Drizzle a generous amount of oil (preferably Olive Oil) with some Salt & Pepper. At this point you can also add few springs of Herbs of your choice for complex flavour. Cover tightly with foil and bake for approximately 30minutes then Uncover and continue roasting until caramelized and golden for 10-20 more minutes. The garlic is done when the center of each clove is completely soft. HOW TO STORE:- Once the Roasted Garlic is cooled Store whole heads of roasted garlic in the fridge for 3-4 days. For longer shelf life You can store it in the fridge in an airtight container covered with oil, for about 2 weeks. If you prefer to freeze , spread the whole cloves onto a baking sheet and place it in the freezer. Once frozen, store the cloves in a sealed plastic bag or an airtight container & use it for months!
