Home Chefs … A Closer Look
There’s a beautiful quote by Marcel Boulestin “Cooking is not chemistry. It is an art. It requires instinct and taste rather than exact measurements”
For those of us who’ve tried our hands at this skill, we will know just how challenging it is to ensure that we come up with items to suit the varied palate of our dear ones.
In today’s times when everyone is contributing towards strengthening the economy at large; one cannot overlook the contribution of the home chef segment who quietly works from the confines of their kitchen to feed those men, women and children who are out to make a difference! Well one can’t do anything on an empty stomach, can one?
A closer look will reveal that some home chefs go an extra step beyond the mundane cooking; they pour over the cooking stove and try-out new recipes which they’ve either sampled at a restaurant or watched on a television show or a social media platform.
The advanced genre in this category is the home chef who adds her/his personal touch to a simple recipe and makes it magical and out-of-the-world. It could be a specific spice or a secret ingredient but trust us no one else can replicate that taste!
But one commonality among all home chefs is the proud and satisfied smile on their faces when their efforts are appreciated – no amount of money can compensate for that pleasure!
Perhaps that’s why Sophia Loren was bang on target when she quoted “The most indispensable ingredient of all good home cooking: love for those you are cooking for”
