Touted as a super potent health food with awesome benefits wheatgrass is a rage among the health conscious community … and this trend is growing with each passing day.

 

Albeit the flavour profile is a tad heavy, yet wheatgrass being versatile it lends itself very well to smoothies and juices where its taste can be masked by other fruits and veggies without any noticeable effect on its nutrition value.

 

Purported to be replete with vitamins A, B-complex, C, and E, this green machine additionally contains iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and selenium. All these facilitate – cancer-fighting abilities; thyroid function; blood flow; lowered risk of heart disease; respiratory function; and of course an immunity-boost 

 

Let’s take a look at the simple and easy steps involved in growing this detoxifying micro-green:

 

Requirements – 

Good-quality seeds

A container filled with potting soil or homemade compost 

Adequate lighting (either sunlight or ultraviolet lighting) ideally for 12–16 hours per day

 

Method –

  1. Lightly water the container filled with potting soil 
  2. Evenly sprinkle the wheatgrass seed on top of the soil 
  3. Gently mist your seeds with water and cover your container with a plastic lid
  4. Check it daily and mist water as needed to keep the seeds moist
  5. A couple of days after the seeds have germinated, remove the plastic lid to expose them to light
  6. Water once a day while your micro-greens grow and gain colour
  7. Voila in 6-10 days your wheatgrass is ready to be harvested!
  8. Clip it and use it in juices or smoothies
