Tips

  • You can replace coconut milk with - almond milk, oats milk, soy milk or cashew milk
  • The thickness and colour of your mango milkshake will vary with the type of mangoes you use; while Alphonso mangoes lend it a thick and bright golden yellow hue; other varieties will give your shake a juicy, pulpy and bright yellow to light yellow colour

VARIATIONS

You can customize your mango milkshake with ice cream by opting for the following ingredients to change its thickness and taste -

  • Cream – While blending, add one-fourth cup of heavy cream with the milk to give it an extra thick and creamy consistency
  • Whole milk – For a rich taste opt for whole or full-fat milk

EXPERT CUES

For Selecting Mangoes

  • Always choose ripe, juicy, sweet and easy-to-peel mangoes
  • Avoid fibrous mangoes
  • Alphonso mangoes are the best choice
  • Sour or semi-sweet mangoes are a strict no-no as they can cause stomach aches; besides sour mangoes may also curdle the milk

For Proportions – Mangoes and Milk

  • If a fruity, pulpy and thick shake replete with the flavour of mangoes is what your palate craves then add more mangoes
  • If a creamier and milkshake-like flavour is what you hanker for then add more milk

So go ahead and prepare a cool and refreshing mango milkshake with vanilla ice cream. Trust us this is the perfect drink to beat the summer heat … even at the cost of paying through the nose for the mangoes!
