Making of the perfect Chocolate Mousse

By Foodism Team

A great foodie once said- All you need is love, but some creamy, silky chocolate mousse surely makes life easier! Chocolate mousse is like the frosting you can eat by the spoon without people judging you. It is silky, smooth, creamy and just sooo chocolaty!

But all of this comes at a cost, to make the perfect mousse, you must be patient and gentle. Once you ace the mousse recipe, you can use it for many things such as stuffing, layering, frosting or just eating by the spoon! Let's begin with our Chocolate Mousse recipe for the perfect chocolate mousse!

  • 180 g Dark Chocolate chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Instant Coffee Powder
  • 238 g Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  1. Add chocolate, butter and coffee powder to a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave at 30-second intervals, this helps to keep it smooth.
  2. Chocolate keeps melting from residual heat, so stop just before you think it's fully melted. Set aside to cool
  3. In another bowl, pour whipping cream and use a hand blender to whip cream till you get soft peaks (approx 7-10 minutes).
  4. Add vanilla extract and whip again to combine.
  5. Fold in the cooled chocolate mixture into the whipped cream till fully incorporated.
  6. Make sure the cream is not too cold for the melted chocolate.
  7. Use a piping bag to pipe the mousse into serving jars.
  8. You can also frost mini cakes or cupcakes with it!
