Surnoli (Watermelon Dosa)

  • 2 cups , Rice
  • Half tsp , Methi seeds
  • Half cup , Grated coconut
  • One fist , Poha (any)
  • 1 cup or more for sweetness , Jaggery (optional)
  • 2 cups grated , Watermelon rind(white part)


  • Method soak rice 2 cups with half teaspoon Methi seeds for at least three hours then grind with grated coconut and grinded watermelon into a smooth paste. After you get a fine paste add salt as per your taste and also add jaggery to the mixture.
  • Keep this batter for overnight fermentation. Next day you can make Dosas. They taste yum you can serve them with any choice of your chutney or can be eaten as it is. Note : if you don't want jaggery it can be skipped and can be made like that only.
  • But do ferment it overnight so the taste of watermelon enhances the next day. Enjoy... @Chaitali Gopal Shanbhag
