Kuzhi paniyaram/Neiyappam

  • 1cup, Rice
  • 2(small), Bananas
  • 1, Cardamom
  • Half cup, Jaggery
  • 2tbsp, Coconut pieces(chopped)
  • A pinch, Baking soad
  • For frying, Ghee


  • Soak rice for 4 hours
  • Melt the jaggery with 2tablespoon of water in pan
  • Grind soaked rice along with banana, cardamom and melted jaggery in a mixer.(Add little water if needed) Consistency should be of dosa batter.
  • Then add baking soda and coconut pieces to the grinded paste.
  • In the kuzhi paniyaram pan, add ghee and let heat it.. then add the batter to fry for 2 minutes on each side.


A pinch of salt to the batter will enhance the taste!
