Ingredients

  • 300gms, Brown rice
  • 200 gms, Green gram
  • 100gms, Urad dal
  • 2 tsp, Baking soda
  • As per taste, Salt

Instructions

  • Soak all the ingredients except the salt and baking soda for 8 hours.
  • Grind the rice and pulses into to a fine batter
  • Leave the batter to rest overnight and Ferment
  • Once the the the batter is fermented add salt and give a good mix.
  • If you are in a cold region add baking soda at this time
  • If you are in warm region and your batter is well fermented. You can skip adding baking soda.
  • Make the idlis using the idli steamer for approxx 20 minutes.
  • Enjoy with your favorite chutneys

Notes/Tips

Batter has to ferment well,for fluffy idlis. To reduce over fermentation you can add salt before the process. If the batter is not fermented add baking soda Brown rice idli may take a little more time than regular idli
